Self-filling sites — the dream of any webmaster and businessman on the Internet. Due to its internal structure, such a site should fill and promote itself, and subsequently provide the owner with the opportunity to monetize (on selling links, selling contextual advertising, selling traffic, etc.). Just a few years ago, the topic of creating self-filling sites was so viable and payable that it led to a large increase in explicit pseudo-sites, filling the Internet with repetitive, same-type delusional information (hundreds and thousands of site directories, drawing data from one database, satellites generated from several paragraphs of text etc.). How promising are self-filling sites today, what is the best way to make them and is the game worth the candle?
Let’s look at the main types of self-filling sites and consider their prospects, looking at their past.
Site directories. Site directories are a script that allows users to leave information about their site on the site (including the sometimes open clickable URL). It also contains a rubricator, which allows you to sort sites, in more measure by subject. This site is a good example of a self-filling site, wanting to leave a link to your site and tell how good it is — more than enough on the Internet. However, this topic is no longer relevant. Such information for search engines is not interesting and unique. Site directories are no longer considered by PS as sites in the most usual sense of the word. Article directories. One of the varieties of self-filling site, created on the basis of a directory of sites. Visitors are invited to publish an article on the portal (presentation, release), in exchange for a direct link to the author’s website. For a long time, this topic has been tenacious, but only qualitative directories of articles with tight moderation by owners have been surviving lately. As well as site directories or article directories, they offer visitors, often free of charge and without registration, to leave a notice about buying or selling, providing services, etc. The main costs came down to launching and advertising such a script, and later the site was filling itself, solely at the expense of interested visitors. But their fame quickly ended — PSs put a taboo on this topic, especially when such boards began to be used for spam purposes (one ad was automatically sent to hundreds of boards, unhindered placement of prohibited information, etc.).
Exceptions to the rules are rigidly moderated bulletin boards, regional bulletin boards (district, region) or thematic bulletin boards. Monetizing such portals is much easier and more pleasant than catalogs.
Forums A special kind of self-filling sites. In difference, perhaps, from all others — it is very quickly indexed. The main difficulty lies in the proper launch of such a portal: literate topics, attracting targeted traffic, and public interest. Forums grow quickly, but without the participation of moderators (who, however, can be appointed from among ordinary visitors) very quickly turn into unsuitable.
Search engines have learned to distinguish between humane texts — therefore, generated conversations, breakout conversations, idle talk, etc. will not give authority to the forum. Verdict: to create a self-filling site on the principle of the forum — the idea is still relevant, but requires a lot of costs, both at the start and in the subsequent maintenance.
News aggregators. This term refers to aggregators of news announcements, which are drawn from public rss feeds.
